Job Description

The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules for the construction of mission-critical data center facilities. The role involves preparing detailed project plans, tracking progress, identifying delays, coordinating with all stakeholders, and ensuring timely project delivery while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning

  • Prepare detailed baseline project schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Develop Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for civil, structural, architectural, MEP, and commissioning activities.
  • Prepare project execution schedules from engineering through commissioning.
  • Develop procurement, material delivery, and manpower schedules.
  • Prepare project milestones and recovery schedules.

Project Monitoring & Control
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly project progress.
  • Track actual progress against planned schedules.
  • Identify schedule deviations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare look-ahead schedules (2-week and 4-week plans).
  • Update Primavera schedules periodically.
Reporting
  • Prepare Daily Progress Reports (DPR).
  • Prepare Weekly Progress Reports (WPR).
  • Prepare Monthly Progress Reports (MPR).
  • Develop project dashboards and KPI reports.
  • Generate S-Curves for progress monitoring.
  • Prepare manpower and equipment utilization reports.

Coordination
  • Coordinate with Civil, MEP, Architectural, QA/QC, Safety, Procurement, and Client teams.
  • Participate in weekly planning and coordination meetings.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance against planned schedules.
  • Coordinate with design consultants for drawing releases.

Delay Analysis
  • Analyze project delays.
  • Prepare recovery and mitigation plans.
  • Conduct Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis.
  • Perform schedule risk analysis.
  • Support Extension of Time (EOT) claims when required.

Cost & Resource Planning
  • Prepare resource-loaded schedules.
  • Monitor labor productivity.
  • Forecast manpower requirements.
  • Track equipment utilization.
  • Coordinate procurement schedules with site requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Certification in Primavera P6 is preferred.
  • PMP certification is an added advantage.

Experience
  • 5–10 years of construction planning experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Data Center projects.
  • Experience with Tier III/Tier IV Data Center construction is preferred.
  • Experience handling projects valued above INR 200 Crores is desirable.
